I think if you stop bad habits, and you stop long enough, you develop good habits.

The "modern" way of living, and by modern I mean a lifestyle in which we are oriented towards consumerism, efficiency and convenience, has led many of us towards assimilating some habits which in most cases are bad for us. Some of them are bad for our personal image, others for our physical health and others for our mind. These are often activities that may seem inoffensive at a first look, but which will without a doubt have a negative impact on us on the long run.

You may have heard it all before, and you may already be aware of the harm these habits can cause, but nevertheless, regard this posts as a reinforcement to the things that you know, and and extra dose of motivation.

Here are five of the most annoying, unpleasant, vicious and good for nothing habits, habits that you should consider quitting right now:

1. Watching TV

Television nowadays has become an unsavoury environment, generally promoting obscenity, scandals, or other cheap but intriguing subjects for our society. Altogether, it has become a challenge to try and find something decent on TV these days, something with information value, something that can make it worth the while you spend in front of it.

That’s why, if you have this activity as a daily habit, you should at least consider reducing the amount of time you spend doing it. Consider replacing at least half of the time you spend watching TV with reading, or other types of activities that relax you and stimulate your intelect, and who know maybe one day you will be able to quit for good. Being up to date with the news and all is so easy these days, that it can be done without having to depend on a TV for it.

2. Smoking

If you are a smoker then you most likely already know most of the reasons why you should consider quitting this awfull habit. You know that it affects your health, your breath and generally all the internal organs. Nothing good comes out of smoking, and don’t let yourself think that you are sexier with a cigarette in your mouth, that’s an illusion. You just look more vicious, not to mention the fact that you smell and taste like an ashtray.

If you also consider the amount of money you have to spend due to it, then smoking should easily be crossed off from your habit list. I know that these logical statements are hard to implement when you are addicted to it, but try to somehow motivate yourself and do it. There are meany reasons why you should stop smoking, and none to continue.

3. Drinking

They say alcohol works like a lubricant in our society, and maybe this is true, because it makes you more uninhibited and talkative, which is likely to attract more people around you at a party for an instance. And it’s perfectly ok to have some drinks every now and then but be careful, not to prolong this usage too much outside the party. What does this mean?

If, from the seven days a week has, you constantly drink on more than two, then that is considered to be too much. It is too much for your liver so you should avoid doing it. Take action and reduce the quantity as much as you can.

4. Fast food

Always keep in mind that fast food is the equivalent of bad food. And as its name says, it should only be consumed in fast situations, when time is a luxury you cannot afford.

If you feel that you are always under dead lines or perhaps running around in the city from point A to point B like a lunatic or any other scenario which prevents you from having enough time for a healthy meal, then you have to pull yourself together and get a bit more organized.

Your alimentation very is important and along with other factors connected to your lifestyle, it can have a huge impact on how much time you get to enjoy on this beautiful planet.

"The way you think, the way you behave, the way you eat, can influence your life by 30 to 50 years." - Deepak Chopra

So try and find time to cook, at least two times a week, so as you can take your lunch at a box. This is the cheaper option. The other one which is a bit pricier is to start ordering your food at work, of course with accent put on healthy stuff. Either way, yes, there is an effort to be made, but the effects on the long term are priceless.

5. Chewing your nails

This is one of the most annoying habits of all times, something which many do, something that it is repulsive, on top of it. Even though you wash your hands a few times a day, they are still touching most of the things you come in contact with. So think about the germs, and the stuff that is invisible to the human eye that gets stuck underneath your nails.

If you chew your nails on a regular basis, then all the dirt and bacteria from beneath your nails goes right into your mouth. Yes, the mouth with which you eat and kiss other people, on the cheek or on the mouth.

Now you see why it is so disgusting? So, in case you don’t have one (because you didn't need to use one until now), go and buy yourself a fancy new nail clipper and start using it on a regular basis.

If you want to make an improvement in your life quality, abandoning the bad habits would be a good place to start. We would be very thankful if you could share with us your successful experience in regards with quitting a bad habit.
